Checklist as a
Buyer ~

Thank you for your valued business! Just a friendly reminder of some of the
items you will need to attend to before your move. Also remember at closing
the funds must be cashier or certified check. We will advise you of the
exact amount you must bring. It is very important that you bring photo ID’s
to the closing as well.

If you are currently renting, you will need to
requisite notice under the Tenant Protection Act.

If your condominium has a service/freight
elevator then you will need to book the elevator well in advance for the
move.

Start collecting boxes for packing. A
color-coded system may work well to assist you & your movers in placing
your items. Design a layout of where you want the movers to place the
boxes and furniture. Give a copy of it to the lead person on the moving
crew.

Prepare a list of friends, relatives,
companies, etc. and prepare the change of address cards. Mail out a couple
of weeks or so before the move. Don’t forget to notify: your church, club
memberships, magazines/newspaper subscriptions, alumni associations,
professional associations, bank and credit card companies, financial
advisors, car insurance company, and charitable organizations.

At the post office complete the change of
address forms.

Arrange to have gas, electric, cable TV and
other utilities turned off and the bills forwarded.

If you have a lawn service, fertilizing, pest
control, notify these professional that you are discontinuing service.

Arrange a Mover as soon as possible.

Transfer bank accounts or close if necessary.
If you are moving out of town request a letter of introduction from your
bank manager.

You may need to arrange for a transfer of
medical, dental, school.

When you arrive at your new home have your
drivers license address changed.

Do you have any items at the dry cleaners,
shoe repair, or in storage that you may need to collect?

Arrange for safety and care of pets during
move.

Arrange to deliver the keys of your home and
any electronic gadgets or passwords necessary to the home on the day of
closing.

Arrange for dinner on the day of the move!

Arrange for new household insurance well in
advance.

Call your mortgage company, as soon as
possible, to ensure that you have a written copy of the mortgage
commitment letter, which outlines your rate and terms. For your protection
keep one in your files.
